We are delighted to announce that we have entered the second phase of the Neo Sidechain Naming Campaign: “Your Vote Matters!”

In Phase 1, we received an incredible response from our enthusiastic community, with over 300 fantastic name suggestions. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for your active participation and valuable contributions! Neo Global Development has carefully narrowed down the candidates to the Top 20 names, considering their creativity and originality.

Now, in Phase 2, from November 17 to November 27, we invite the entire community to vote for the Top 5 names. To make things even more exciting, we have prepared $4,000 in community prize pool. Read on to learn how you can participate and have a chance to win these rewards.

How to vote?

To vote for your favorite names in the Neo Sidechain Naming Campaign, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Review the Top 20 names with their narratives and creative content. Take note of your 5 favorite names. The list of the Top 20 names can be found at the end of this article.

Step 2: Visit the Voting Form and tick the checkboxes next to the names you selected in Step 1. Then Submit.

Prize Pool and Distribution Rule

There are two active roles for this phase: Voter and Advocate, together sharing a prize pool of $4,000.

For Voters: $3,000 will be equally distributed among 300 individuals who vote in the Voting Form and submit their Neo N3 addresses. Winners will be randomly selected.

For Advocates: $1,000 will be equally distributed among 100 individuals who successfully complete all tasks in the Galxe Campaign. Winners will be randomly selected.

1. AegisLink

“Aegis” represents protection and support, aligning with the MEV-resistant feature, while “Link” suggests the sidechain’s role in connecting various elements of the ecosystem.

2. Aether

Aether means pure air or clear sky, which is made of various gases, akin to the GAS token. Aether also means a volatile and hard to grasp substance, which symbolizes the desire to create a private and MEV-free transaction space. The word is also very close to ether, so easily connotes Ethereum.

There are a few crypto-related projects with the word ‘aether’ associated with them, as it is a somewhat common word. I am not sure if any hold copyrights to an Aether cryptocurrency blockchain.

3. Ares

Ares was the ancient Greek god of war or, more properly, the spirit of battle.

I am take this name for Neo blockchain Sidechain because “the spirit of battle” between all defi ecosystem.

4. Bane Network

Regarding the character Bane, he appears in “The Matrix Revolutions” as an antagonist who blinds Neo during a confrontation. However, this event leads to Neo discovering a new ability: perceiving energy sources and machines in the real world, even without his sight.
That is also what Neo needs now.

5. Beltway $BELT

It’s a version of the very popular “Belt and Road Initiative”, known within China as the One Belt One Road or OBOR/1B1R. NEO is synonymous with China, and the Chinese Gov’t proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to improve connectivity and cooperation on a transcontinental scale.
This is the best name to use for global infrastructure development strategy that would represent what NEO stands for. Based on $BRI, BELTWAY $BELT name would be recognized as high up as the World Bank Group, and people would easily remember it. As a sidechain this would be a name to connect legacy and blockchain projects to something easily understood by the networking world of new and old.

6. Eon

The name Eon for the sidechain came to me during the NCA. It is simple, memorable, and bold, but carries much weight, much like the name Neo before it.

The word Neo is derived from Greek, meaning new and young. It represented a fresh approach, a change of pace, an evolution of past concepts in blockchain into something greater than what came before.

Likewise, Eon stems from the Latin aeon, in turn from the Greek aion, referring to an immeasurable period of time and a vital force of nature.

It aptly describes the new era we are entering; the longevity and sustainability that we desire for our ecosystem as we strive to create something that outlives its creators.

As an anagram of Neo, Eon mirrors the existing brand closely. Together, NEO and EON make ONE ecosystem.

Eon isn’t just a name, but an abbreviation. While Neo targets the world that has yet to be onboarded into blockchain, Eon appeals to the existing builders and innovators that have made Ethereum the worldwide success that it is today. Eon is the “Ethereum On Neo” that will brings two worlds together, a unification unlike anything that has never been achieved before in the history of the blockchain industry.

May this name serve us well!

7. GasZ

I chose this name since it is similar to Gen Z. There are a lot of similarities. Gen Z is the new generation of humanity, and GasZ is a new generation blockchain in the Neo ecosystem. Gen Z represents innovation and the future, and so does GasZ. It is also a catchy and simple name. It emphasizes that GAS is also important for this blockchain, as the name suggests.

8. Hades

King of the gods and ruler of Mount Olympus; god of sky and thunder. Youngest child of Titan Cronus and Rhea. Symbols include the lightning bolt, the eagle, the oak tree, the scepter, and the scales. Hera’s brother and husband, though he had many lovers.

9. HorusChain

The name “HorusChain” resonates profoundly as it is inspired by the ancient Egyptian deity Horus, a symbol of power, protection, and vigilance. Horus, the sky god, is often depicted as a falcon or with a falcon’s head, his eye representing the all-seeing eye that watches over the land and its people. In myth, Horus triumphed over chaos and evil, embodying the eternal struggle between light and darkness, order and disorder.

Choosing Horus as the eponym for a blockchain sidechain reflects the core principles of the technology — oversight, security, and resilience. HorusChain aims to emulate Horus’s protective nature by offering a secure and resistant infrastructure against adversarial exploits, particularly against MEV (Miner Extractable Value) bots, which are known for exploiting transaction order within blocks for profit.

Moreover, just as Horus was known for his friendliness and closeness to the people, serving as a protector, HorusChain aspires to be user-centric, fostering a community-driven environment where transparency and trust are paramount. This sidechain not only aims to fortify users’ transactions against predatory practices but also seeks to establish a harmonious ecosystem where developers and users can safely interact, akin to the peace Horus brought to his followers.

Therefore, “HorusChain” encapsulates the ethos of a platform designed to shield its community, ensuring that it remains a benevolent and steadfast space within the cryptocurrency realm. The inspiration behind the name is a tribute to a legacy of guardianship and a commitment to upholding these values in the digital age.

10. Morph

To find a fitting name for the NEO sidechain it is important to look at all aspects of the NEO ecosystem.

When people first hear the name Neo the first thing they think of is the Matrix movies. Together with City of Zion (COZ) and the OneBand this theme is further established. On the other hand Neo stands for new, modified and innovation. So both of these straightforward themes need to be involved when naming this new sidechain.

Going deeper into the lore of the Matrix a key figure is of course Morpheus. Morpheus is one of the leaders of Zion and is the one that frees Neo from the Matrix. In classical Greek literature Morpheus is also the god of Dreams. A good basis to work from.

On the other hand we have new, modified and innovation as key theme. But how does one become new? In science it usually happens through morphing. The act of transforming from the old to the new, a caterpillar becoming a butterfly!

When combining Neo with morph we get the term Neomorph. In biology Neomorph refers to a mutation in the product to create a new function not present in the original product. The MEV-resistance comes to light with this neomorphic attribute.

I believe that Morph encompasses the change Neo will be going through and the possibilities it opens for the future. With this new sidechain Neo will start realizing its dream to further connect into the cryptocurrency ecosystem and will morph from a single VM blockchain into a multi VM butterfly!

11. Neo Paradome

“Para” means “beside; next to” in ancient Greek and would refer to a parallel blockchain, c.q. a sidechain that co-exists with and extends the N3 blockchain; “Dome” in modern English would refer to the secure, protective features of the blockchain and is derived from “Domos”, which is a “built place; house” in ancient Greek.

12. Neo PriMesh

Name: Neo PriMesh (NEO PRIME-MESH)

— Neo PriMesh aimed to evoke a narrative of cutting-edge innovation within the Neo ecosystem.

— The fusion of “Neo” emphasizes our commitment to advancing technology, while “PriMesh” underscores the intricacy and strength of the interconnected network, symbolizing MEV-resistant features and EVM compatibility.

— The term “PriMesh” communicates not only strength but also scalability, mirroring the robustness of our network as it evolves.

— By incorporating “Neo,” we maintain alignment with our established brand, while “PriMesh” injects an element of sophistication synonymous with our mission.

13. NEO X

I believe that the core value of “neo-sidechain” lies in its ability to establish a connection with the existing EVM. That’s why I used “X” to signify fusion. Moreover, maintaining consistency by using “X” after “N” seemed appropriate. it also has a pleasant pronunciation. NEO X!

14. NeoForge

Creation and Development: The term “Forge” suggests a place of creation and development. This can be a powerful symbol for a blockchain sidechain, emphasizing the idea that this platform is where new ideas, projects, and transactions are forged or created.

Strength and Stability: “Forge” can also convey a sense of strength and stability. This could imply that the Neo sidechain is a robust and reliable platform, well-suited for various applications and transactions.
Community Building:

The concept of a forge often involves collaboration and community. Naming the sidechain “NeoForge” could signal a community-centric approach, inviting developers and users to come together to build and shape the future of the platform.
Metaphor for Blockchain Technology:

In a metaphorical sense, a forge is a place where raw materials are transformed into something valuable. Similarly, a blockchain forge could be seen as a space where data and transactions are transformed into secure and valuable assets.

Memorability: “NeoForge” is a distinctive and memorable name, which can be advantageous for branding and marketing purposes. A memorable name is more likely to stick in the minds of users and the community.
Versatility:

The name “NeoForge” is versatile and can be associated with various aspects of blockchain technology, including smart contract development, token creation, and more.

15. NeoNexus

The name “NeoNexus” hints at the connection between the sidechain and NEO. Nexus is a Latin word meaning “bridge” or “place of intersection”. In this case, NeoNexus can be understood as “a bridge between NEO and other blockchain networks”.

The name also represents NEO’s vision of building an open and connected blockchain ecosystem. NeoNexus will serve as an intermediary platform, allowing blockchain applications on different networks to communicate and interact with each other.

Additionally, the name “NeoNexus” can also be interpreted symbolically. It hints at a future where blockchain networks connect with each other, forming a unified ecosystem.

Here are some specific meanings of the name “NeoNexus”:

1. Association with NEO: This name represents that the sidechain is an extension of NEO, and is built on the foundation of NEO technology.

16. NeoSphere

NeoSphere captures the essence of a boundary-pushing, MEV-resistant sidechain that aligns seamlessly with Neo’s mission. It signifies a connected and scalable ecosystem, offering a memorable and distinct identity in the blockchain space. The name is easy to pronounce, spell, and holds the potential to grow with the project. NeoSphere reflects a commitment to a bright, shared future in the Neo ecosystem.

17. Nova

The name ‘Nova’ embodies the essence of new beginnings and explosive potential, much like a supernova in the cosmos. It represents the birth of something powerful and groundbreaking within the Neo ecosystem. This name symbolizes the sidechain as a catalyst for unprecedented growth and innovation, echoing the explosive impact a nova has in space. ‘Nova’ signifies a burst of new energy and possibilities, aligning with Neo’s vision of revolutionizing the blockchain landscape. Personally, ‘Nova’ resonates with me as it encapsulates the excitement of venturing into uncharted territories and the promise of achieving remarkable advancements, mirroring the ambitious spirit of the Neo community in its quest to redefine the boundaries of blockchain technology.

18. Shelter

A shelter is a safe place as a noun and to protect from danger as a verb. When it comes to DEFI and web3 in general all user crave safety, this could be in form of exploits, hacks, privacy, flexibility, and convivence of taking actions without danger.
While shelter’s feature include Mev resistance and EVM compatibility, not limited to this, the name will speak for the chain as it will embody all new features added.
When the word shelter comes up everyone one feels relaxed and safe, this will be a good name for a side chain as all Neo is all about protecting it’s user while giving them various features to explore.

19. The Construct

Please see attached PDF, but The Construct was the workspace in the first Matrix where Neo learned the skills necessary to combat agents in the Matrix. He learned the truth about the real world, how to jump from buildings, spar with Morpheus, and prepare for the battle with the agents to save Morpheus — all within The Construct.

The Construct will serve as a new environment for developers to BUIDL the next great dApp in the Smart Economy by leveraging the building blocks available in the broader EVM ecosystem. Like within the new Smart Economy, BUIDLers and users can move freely between Neo N3 and Neo Construct, just as the freed minds could move between The Construct and The Matrix in the movie.

The Construct is highly cohesive with the brand identity of the Neo Smart Economy. It has little competition with other Web3 projects regarding SEO or other companies with this name. Additionally, there seem to be websites (i.e., construct.io, construct.xyz, construct.org) that are available for purchase. And, I’ve already defensively purchased the construct.neo and theconstruct.neo Neo Naming Service domains.

The Construct has high memetic value, strongly ties to Neo’s brand, and can be interchangeably used as a verb or a noun (i.e., building on The Construct, Constructing a dApp on the sidechain). The Construct is a versatile name with robust potential that equally matches what the EVM sidechain can do for the Smart Economy.

20. TRINITY

NEO and TRINITY for its EVM fits perfectly. The Sidechain for NEO is like NEOs companion in the Matrix — TRINITY.

In the context of “The Matrix” film series, the strong connection and compatibility between Neo and Trinity can be attributed to several factors:

Chosen Ones: Neo and Trinity are both “chosen ones” in the sense that Neo is The One, and Trinity is highly skilled and resourceful.. Their individual strengths complement each other, making them a formidable team.

Mutual Trust: Neo and Trinity trust each other implicitly. This trust allows them to take significant risks and rely on each other in critical situations, strengthening their partnership.

Shared Goals: Their alignment in purpose and skills makes them a highly effective team.

In summary, the strong connection and compatibility between Neo and Trinity are a combination of destiny, trust, shared goals, and their complementary abilities. These elements contribute to their effectiveness as a team.
